The 1st WTF World Taekwondo Tour will be held on Nov. 14 in Mexico City, Mexico. Formal Olympic Medalists and World Champions from each Continent will be competing in a pro format with modified WTF competition rules.

WTF will be having its General Assembly and WTF President Election for 2010~2013 term prior to the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. More than 30 PATU member nations are expected to participate in this event and the WTF General Assembly.
014 Pan Am Junior Championship Referee Selection will be Completed on October 12.
PATU Referee Committee will be completing Referee Selections for Pan Am Junior Poomsae Championships and Pan Am Junior Kyoroogi Championships on Oct. 12. All appointment letters will be sent out by October 14 to each individual international referee.
013 The 5th Pan Am Junior Kyoroogi Championship to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador.
El Salvador Federation will be hosting the 5th Pan Am Junior Kyoroogi Championships on Nov. 20~22 at Carlos “ El Famoso Hernandez” Sports Palace in San Salvador, El Salvador. PATU will be using WTF approved LaJUST Electronic Body Protectors for the first time for Junior Competitions in El Salvador. All competitors will be able to practice with LaJSUT EBP system on Nov. 18 & 19 in designated hotels.

011 3rd PATU Poomsae Seminar & Poomsae Referee Certification Course.
PATU will be organizing the 3rd PATU Poomsae Seminar & Poomsae Referee Certification Course prior to the 1st Pan Am Junior Pommsae Championships to be held in Siesta Hotel in San Salvador, El Salvador from Nov. 15 to Nov. 17. All PATU Poomsae Referees are invited to take this seminar to update themselves with the latest changes in WTF standard Poomsae and be promoted to higher level of Poomsae Referee Certification.
010 2009 PASO High Level Technical
Course will be held on July 12~18 in Mexico.
WTF & PATU will be organizing a PASO High Level
Technical Seminars for all PATU member national
federations. All PATU member national federations
must recommend one national coach who will be
participating in this comprehensive technical course by
June 12, 2009 to PATU headquarters. All airfares,
room & board, local transportation will be provided by
PASO and Pan Am Olympic Solidarity Program of Courses and
Central American Games will be held on Dec. 15~18 in
2009 the 9th Central American Games will be
held in the City of San Pedro Sula, Honduras from December
15 to 18. Taekwondo Games will be held in two days on
Dec. 16 & 17. All national teams from Central American
Countries are invited to participate in this event.
There will be 8 men and 8 women Kyoroogi weight divisions.
Competition Rules to be in effect as of June 01, 2009.
WTF has announced that the new competition rules will be in
effect as of June 01, 2009.
All official events beginning June 01, 2009 will be
using the new WTF competition rules as notified.
Consequently, all upcoming events in Pan Am Region
including the Costa Rica Open, Bolivarian Games, Central
American Games, South American Games and Pan Am Junior
Championship will be officiated with the new WTF competition
upcoming Multi-Sports Games that have completed their
technical manual by using the older version of the
competition rules can elect to use the new rules with
coordinated decision with PATU.
Pan Am Junior Championship is scheduled for November 19~22,
Salvador Federation will be hosting the 5th Pan
Am Junior Championships and the 1st Pan Am Junior
Poomsae Championships on November 19~22, 2009.

Referee Certification Seminar is postponed due to Swine Flu
Due to ongoing Swine Flu Epidemic in the Pan Am Region, PATU
has reached a decision to postpone 2009 PATU Poomsae Referee
Certification Seminar that was scheduled prior to 2009 Costa
Rica Open Taekwondo Championship. The PATU Poomsae
Certification Seminar is postponed to August 25-27, 2009 to
be held in Cartago, Costa Rica.
This precautionary decision was made based on
recommendations from WHO (The World Health Organization) and
Costa Rica Ministry of Health to protect all participants
from possible exposure to the H1N1 virus that is strongly
affecting Mexico and nearby nations.

The 2nd PATU Poomsae Referee Certification Course is scheduled to be held in Costa Rica from May 26 to May 28 prior to the opening of 2009 Costa Rica Open Taekwondo Championships in Cartago, Costa Rica. PATU is planning to appoint all Poomsae referees who are certified by PATU for all PATU official Poomsae events in the future including the upcoming PATU Junior Championships in El Salvador in November. The new PATU certified Poomsae Referee list from the 1st PATU Poomsae Referee Course in Puebla, Mexico in 2008 is posted on this web site/PATU News, and their certifications were sent out to all member national federations. Those who took the 1st seminar will be able to receive a higher certification upon completing the 2nd seminar in Costa Rica and PATU will appoint Poomsae referees from this pool of referees for all future PATU Poomsae Championships.
004 2009 WTF World Taekwondo Tour postponed due to swine flu epidemic
The President of the World Taekwondo Federation announced that the World Taekwondo Tour 2009 Mexico scheduled to take place on May 2, 2009 has been postponed until further notice due to the outbreak of the deadly swine influenza in Mexico causing the death of over a hundred people. The World Taekwondo Tour
2009 Mexico was initiated as a pilot project for the future organization of regular World Taekwondo Tour, but for the safety of the participating athletes, spectators and the general public, as well as a recommendation of the WHO, WTF President Choue unavoidably made the decision on the postponement of the event.
